“You have everything….”
“…Including a great big “O” where I used to have a heart.”
Burt Lancaster and Lizabeth Scott in "I Walk Alone."
It’s the profound desolation in lines like these that have ensured my devotion
to Film Noir – and in
particular its anti-heroines - for longer than I care to admit. My name’s
Sandra Lawrence
and this site is an attempt to bring together the threads of the
NOIRESQUE– a series of linked arts projects exploring the
world of Noir and the Femme Fatale.
Inspired by my own passions, I have collaborated with like-minded individuals – academics, professional musicians, actors, photographers and artists to create music, writing, theatre and visual art.
| The first of the
projects, an album –
“NOIRESQUE
- THE LONELY FATE OF THE FEMME FATALE” – is now available in Europe from the iTunes Online Music Store. You can find out more by clicking on The Album button. The Stage Show – written and performed by myself has been directed by chansonnier and celebrity director BARB JUNGR and also features accompanist RUSSELL CHURNEY. This site will expand as the project does, in the meanwhile you can find pages comprising articles (by myself and other noir-o-philes) a Film Noir “Quote of the Week,” polls, photos, images, lists and links. And I’m never too far away – you can chat with me – and fellow noirologists on the NOIRESQUE Forum – about any noir-ish topic you care to mention…. |
