Trinidad Lady

Lester Lee/Bob Russell

"Trinidad Lady", like another song in this selection, is from "Affair in Trinidad", an underrated Rita Hayworth/Glenn Ford romp, which attempted to do for the West Indies what "Gilda" had done for Buenos Aires.  It was a critical flop at the time and is still regarded as inferior to it's glittering predecessor.  But Time has been kind to this movie and it now manages to stand alone rather than hide in the shadows as a pale imitation of a masterpiece.

Besides, who goes to a Rita Hayworth film for the plot?  It is one of my personal favourites, and the two musical numbers are outstanding.  "Trinidad Lady" is a masterful piece of Hollywood Hokum All Purpose Latino.
